This is my latest Shrimp design, something I have been tinkering with for a while and I think I'm pretty happy with it now. This will certainly have a place in my fly box for next season..

Surf Candy
The Surf Candy was is one of those flies that all newcomers to saltwater fly tying aspire to..
Originally designed by Bob Popovic, this beautiful fly is a winner all over the globe and is one of my personal favourites, not least because I love playing with resin but also because it is just a lovely fly to tie.

E Z body Squid
I'm having a bit of an obsession with E Z body mylar tube at the moment, and I came up with this Squid pattern. The E Z body is coated with U.V resin and the 'wings' are carefully built up using layers of U.V...

Eazi body baitfish
These are fun little flies to tie and are ideal for freshwater predators such as Perch or any other fry feeding predator !
The shank of the hook is wrapped in holographic tinsel which really adds to the appeal of these little gems ! I've also wrapped the thread wraps with some crystal flash to give them extra zing !

Clouser Minnow
Bob Clouser gave us the Clouser Minnow, which is probably the most common Saltwater fly in use today. A generic pattern that will catch most Saltwater species. It can be tied a few different ways with a variety of materials, but I personally like to keep it simple. I call these Fish Candy....

Baitfish Patterns
I've been very busy at the vice recently as the weather just has not been conducive to fishing and I have been concentrating on the baitfish type patterns experimenting with different profiles and colour schemes and perfecting the techniques for tying them.

Flatwing Flies
Flatwings are great for drifting in current, just keeping in touch and waiting for a big girl to snaffle it as it swings into her lair !
These are tied on a size 2 Daiichi 2546.

Bendback Minnows, weedless flies
The angle of the hook point on these Bendback Minnows helps avoid underwater obstacles thus making them ideal for fishing in amongst weed, rocks, and shallow water.

Glass Minnow
These are an excellent choice for when the Bass or other predators are smashing tiny baitfish, the materials used are very translucent giving a very realistic representation of immature fry.
Tied on a size 4 Daiichi hook, these are around 2.5 inches long.

Brook's Blonde Fly
I have an eye for the classics, and along with the Ray's fly I also like the Brook's Blonde pattern. Here's my take on this classic all rounder which still catches plenty of fish.

Flash blend Roach imitation
Been tying a lot with natural materials lately so I thought it was time to change to synthetics. I tied this one up as a Roach pattern for Pike fishing, but it would work equally well for salt water species as it resembles the peanut bunker type saltwater patterns.

Garfish Flies
We get a lot of Garfish here in the summer so I designed a fly to specifically target these fish. Garfish are notoriously difficult to hook and I have only ever caught one on the fly accidentally but I'm sure we often get hits from them without ever hooking up. I'm hoping the small size 10 stinger treble hook will help in connecting with more Gars along with the slinky fibre tail that will hopefully snag in their teeth thus aiding chances of a hook up. Orange of course is a good trigger colour too.

Bucktail Baitfish
I love this style of tying, simple, elegant, and effective at catching fish. Bucktail, Flashabou, Bugbond, and Funky braid and eyes.

A friend asked me to tie a selection of flies of my recommendation to get him started in Saltwater fly fishing.

Glass Minnows
These little flies are great fry patterns for when the predators are preoccupied on smaller baitfish. These are on a size 6 Sakuma stainless saltwater hook. The heads and body are Bug Bonded.
Bucktail Sandeels
These Bucktail Sandeels are weighted so they sink positively and fish in the zone where the fish would expect to find them. Tied on a size 2 Daiichi stainless hook they are approx. 3.5 inches long, just the right size for a marauding predator !
